3Cs News Regarding Covid-19

Like many businesses and non-profits around the country, 3Cs had to suspend meetings and social activities for a large part of 2020.  This had a major impact on 3Cs' fundraising efforts and has affected 3Cs' ability to financially support Kootenai County's non-profit organizations.

During the early weeks of the COVID Pandemic in 2020, our local hospital reached out to our community sewists and asked them to make fabric face masks.  3Cs sewists answered the plea and in no time flat, a group of 43 3Cs members and friends of members began sewing and donating masks to our local hospitals, the Office of Emergency Management for Kootenai County, medical offices, and other front-line and essential workers.  Amazingly, to date, 3Cs has donated over 2500 masks!

It was also during the first month or so of the Pandemic that Good Morning America ran a story encouraging private citizens to wear face masks.  Shortly after the story aired, requests started pouring in to 3Cs from private citizens who wanted to purchase face masks.  Our local newspaper, The Coeur d'Alene Press picked up on our efforts and ran a few stories on the group's efforts.  The "Face Mask Donation Project" soon turned in to a Face Mask Fundraiser as citizens were happy to donate $10 for each face mask purchased.

The money 3Cs raised from face mask sales was donated to our local food banks at a time when they needed it most! Since 3Cs was essentially on "lock down" and unable to raise money through its normal channels, this was a wonderful fundraiser replacement and gave our sewists something to do to pass their time while stuck at home!  We also donated over 100 lbs of food was donated tot he Post Falls Food Bank!

Our Face Masks are still available in our Etsy shop.  Feel free to take a look at our sewists' handiwork by going our Crafty Crew'd Etsy Store.

To all of our 3Cs members and residents of our community, we at 3Cs wish you and yours health and happiness as we contiunue to navigate our way through this pandemic.
